1976 – 2000

1978
Mrs. Jess Horne and Mrs. Nan Elliott won the G.W.B.A. ‘PAIRS’

1980
Les Michie was the President of the parent club and his wife Kit was the President of the Ladies Section.
To commemorate this unique event, Les and Kit presented a trophy for a competition which became the very popular and prestigious ‘Mixed Pairs Competition’ which is played on Sundays.

1981
Christine McLean reached the semi-finals of the W.O.S.W.B.A. singles and was runner up in the G.W.B.A. ‘Singles’.

1982
May Sloan, Helen McLean, Kit Michie and Nan Elliott won the R.G. Lawrie Trophy and also attended the S.W.B.A. Finals in Armadale. Cardonald were also runners up in the G.W.B.A. ‘Rinks’.

1983
Christine McLean won the G.W.B.A. and Govan League Champion of Champions’Singles’.

1984
W.O.S.W.B.A. Semi Finals held at Cardonald.

1985
Christine McLean winner of the ‘SCOTTISH SINGLES’ – the highest honour to have come to Cardonald thus far. Christine was also runner up in the G.W.B.A. ‘Singles’. Between 1979 and 1993 Christine has won the ‘Club Championship’ on EIGHT occasions.
W.O.S.W.B.A. Finals held at Cardonald.

1986
The ‘Parent Club’ informed the ‘Ladies Section’ that they would be now be able to participate in ‘Mixed Play’ on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5pm.
A new one day ‘Balloted Triples’ competition was started. This was followed by tea, served by the gentlemen.!!

1987
1986-87 saw more alterations to the clubhouse and the ladies enjoyed the benefits of an extended locker room and new toilets.

1988
Lady President Mrs. Sheila Allan won the club ‘Championship during her term of office, a double also achieved by Christine McLean in 1993.
Winnie McDonnell reached the last 16 of the ‘Scottish’ and played at Balgreen, Edinburgh.
Cardonald Pairs won the Govan League Champion of Champions.

1989
The ‘Parent Club’ celebrated their 75th Jubilee and the ‘Ladies Section’ presented them with a suitably inscribed bench.
Maureen O’Neill, Margaret Jardine and Nan Davies won the ‘Glasgow One Day Triples’ and Cardonald were runners up in the ‘E. Renfrewshire Triples’ andthe J.L. Sinclair Trophy.

1990
Mrs. Mae McLean and Mrs. Mai Hood won the ‘E. Renfrewshire Pairs’ and Cardonald again won the ‘R.G. Lawrie Trophy’ . The winning four were 35 shots up and consisted of Maragaret Taylor, Betty Walker, Gladys Brittain and Mae McLean.
In that year, Gladys Brittain was the ‘Ladies Champion’ and her husband Alan was Champion of the ‘Parent Club’. Gladys Brittain also won the Govan League Champion of Champions’Singles’.

1991
After discussions with the ‘Parent Club’ it was decided to allow the ‘Ladies Section’ to have Honorary Lady Members. The total to be no more than 5 at any one time. Mrs. May Sloan was introduced at the A.G.M. as the ‘First Lady Honorary member’.
Rena McDevitt, Elizabeth Farquhar and Gladys Brittain won the ‘E. Renfrewshire Triples’ and the ‘Fours’ were runners up in the ‘Glasgow’.
In the ‘Scottish’, the ‘Fours’ reached the last 16 at Northfield and our singles player, Gladys Brittain reached the semi-finals.
Nan Davies won the Govan League Champion of Champions’Singles’. An exciting year!.

1992
Kit Michie elected Vice President of the W.O.S.W.B.A. and Nan Davies was runner up in the ‘WEST’ singles.
W.O.S.W.B.A. Semi Finals held at Cardonald. Cardonald Pairs won the Govan League Champion of Champions.

1993
Nan Davies won the ‘Glasgow Singles’ and the W.O.S.W.B.A. Finals held at Cardonald.
Cardonald Triples won the Govan League Champion of Champions.

1994
Nan Davies and Elizabeth Farquharrunners up in the ‘Glasgow Pairs’.
Cardonald Pairs won the Govan League Champion of Champions.

1995
Cardonald were runners up in the ‘Glasgow Fours’.

1996
Mrs. Elizabeth Farquhar elected Vice President of the G.W.B.A. and the semi finals of the ‘Glasgow’ were held at Cardonald.
Our Scottish triples reached the last 32 at Northfield and we also hosted the finals of the ‘Jack & Jill’ competition with our nominated charity, S.A.B.I.C. receiving a cheque for £1500.
Nan Davies won the Govan League Champion of Champions’Singles’ for the second time.
The jubilee fund was started in 1996 and at the end of the year amounted to £1010 – by the end of 1999 the fund had raised over £4000.

1997
Mrs. Margaret Taylor elected Vice President of the E. Renfrewshire Ladies Bowling Association and Elizabeth Farquhar, Mae McLean and Mai Hood won the ‘E. Renfrewshire Triples’.
The ‘Glasgow’ finals were held at Cardonald and the ‘Glasgow Fours’ was won by Dorothy Young, Ellen McGregor, Betty Walker and Pam Merrilees.
Cardonald Pairs won the Govan League Champion of Champions.

1998
Cardonald hosted the ‘E. Renfrewshire Finals’.

1999
Our Scottish 2 Bowl Pairs reached the last 16 at Northfield and our Glasgow Triples were narrowly defeated in the Semi-Finals at Croftfoot.
During the last 25 years, Cardonald ladies were again chosen for International honours.
